A Breathtaking View & Authentic Neapolitan Style Italian at “Café & Pizza Stardust Garden” in Miyakojima

On the vast grounds of Shigira Resort that expand 330m2 are more than 20 restaurants to meet every taste. The resort is located along the southern coast of Miyako Island, and open to not just the resort guests but also to the general public. The only problem you may have on your visit there is choosing where to go! From extravagant restaurants where the rich and famous often gather, to warm and friendly Japanese izakaya pubs, there’s a great array of choices meeting every craving and budget. Among the selection of Japanese, Italian, Chinese cuisines, and yakiniku, teppanyaki, BBQ, cafes and bars, I recommend the Café & Pizza Restaurant Stardust Garden for first-time visitors★
Boasting the best view among the other establishments is Stardust Garden, perched on a hill 22 meters above sea level on the eastern area of the grounds. Here, you can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in a relaxed and casual atmosphere.
Enjoy the magnificent view during the day for lunch♪ At sunsets and evenings, you can enjoy the calm and romantic ambiance for dinner under the “stardust” and with the peaceful lights twinkling along the coast. At any time of the day, for any occasion, you’ll be delighted with what the establishment offers.
There’s a great selection on the menu, with their popular pizzas and pasta dishes taking center stage. All of the selections are prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients, most of which are harvested locally or in the surrounding islands. For both lunch (11:30 to 15:00) and dinner (18:00 to 22:00), they offer Neapolitan-style pizzas, baked in their stone oven. There are about eight varieties of chewy, juicy pizzas, like the Margherita and Quatro Fromage. I was tempted to order one of these more familiar choices, but on this day, I decided to venture a little for this article.
I went with a pasta and ordered the Linguini Pescatore (2,000 yen), a wonderful pasta dish with seafood like shrimp, clams, mussels and more. The seafood adds delightful flavor to the sauce that’s prepared with ripe tomatoes, and the harmonious blend of texture with the pasta completes this quality dish.
For a side dish, I chose the refreshing Shima-Tofu and Umibudo Salad (1,400 yen). The tofu is locally made and the sea grapes, or umibudo seaweed, is nurtured in the crystal clear waters of Miyako Island. The dressing is blended with the spicy, Okinawan seasoning called korei-gusu, which really went well with the ingredients in the salad.

The selection of their original dolce, or Italian sweets, prepared by the house patissier is also excellent. The Mango Panna Cotta (850 yen) is especially popular with the female guests. It’s made with a generous portion of mango sauce, and accompanied by whipped cream for a perfect finish.

From salads, antipasto, and of course the main dishes, Stardust Garden’s menu is extensive and meets expectations. Compared to the other restaurants, the prices here are reasonable and it’s a great choice for anyone, from couples to families.

After a day of fun at Shigira Beach and marine activities, you can complete your perfect resort day in Miyako at Stardust Garden for some wonderful Italian food, and enjoy the fantastic view, and dishes prepared with local ingredients!
