Let’s Go & Enjoy Breakfast at Rihga Royal Gran Okinawa’s [Dining 19] in Naha

It’s 4:00AM and the sun has yet to rise. At [Dining 19] on the 14th floor of Rihga Royal Gran Okinawa, preparations for breakfast is already under way. The restaurant’s popular menu, Shima Buta (local pork) Sausage ☆ Naan Tacos, won the first prize in Okinawa in the *Rakuten Travel Breakfast Festival® 2019.

The main player of Shima Buta Sausage ☆ Naan Tacos is of course, the sausage. The menu was finally complete after many visits to relevant local businesses and countless trials and improvements. The sweet and spicy taco meat sauce and the texture of the naan were finely adjusted to really bring out the taste of the sausages that were carefully selected. The result is a juicy and absolutely delicious dish.

Another popular choice is their Okinawan-style Hiyashi-men (cold noodles). It has a delightful texture, and is very light, like enjoying congee or Ochazuke in the morning. It’s a new and refreshing style of Okinawa Soba.







Of course, they also offer uniquely Okinawan items like Jimami (peanut) Tofu, Handama (Okinawan spinach) & Goya (bitter melon) in dressing, as well as steamed Beni-Imo (purple potatoes) and other vegetables.







Leading the team of 12 kitchen staff is Kenta Kimura, the Head Chef, who shares his passion for the breakfasts they serve: “The most difficult meal to make is breakfast, because people enjoy breakfasts based on the unique tastes and preferences they were brought up with from a young age. Some people may expect hotel breakfasts to be a little different from the ordinary, but breakfasts are generally based on the tastes that people are used to and are familiar with. That’s why we are always careful to not get too deep into our own particular methods and choices, and are constantly thinking of ways to bring something that our guests will truly enjoy.” As he described, the breakfast items I found at [Dining 19] were stylish but also offered a wide range of comfortable and familiar selections. The dining area was also delightful, being situated at the top floor of the hotel, and very spacious for guests to enjoy their meals.

Some of us might like to enjoy breakfasts at places other than our place of accommodation on some days, and that’s why [Dining 19] attracts many customers staying at various hotels, too. Its convenient location is also great, connected directly from the Asahibashi Monorail Station of the Yui Rail, and also from the Naha Bus Terminal.
