Just a ten-minute drive from Okinawa’s popular Churaumi Aquarium is Kanutan, a café that has an amazing view of the beautiful waters of the East China Sea.
Enjoy meals or a nice coffee break with the fantastic view from the table seats on the observation deck!
The brilliant contrasting colors of the emerald-green waters is simply breathtaking. The scenic beach located at the front of the café is a natural beach, and sea turtles come here to lay their eggs. One of the charms of Kanutan is that no matter where you choose to sit, whether inside, out on the terrace, or on the observation deck, you can enjoy a fantastic view.
View from inside the café.
Terrace seats. One of the charms of Kanutan is the view and comfort at all their table seats. Outside, the sea breeze is nice and cool.
Sipping on a nice, cool tropical beverage as you enjoy such a view is just paradise.
Mango Juice & Acerola Juice
Kanutan offers more than a wonderful view. Their Okinawa Soba noodles are made fresh every day by Yasuhiro Kamiya, the fourth generation owner who inherited the family noodle maker from his parents and studied everything there is to know about Okinawa soba.
Their fresh Okinawa soba noodles have a perfect balance of chewy, firm texture and introduced this article are recommendations of dishes using these noodles. These dishes are great especially in the long hot summer months in Okinawa. First is their cold Umi Zaru, served with Mozuku seaweed, which is only available between May to October.
Handmade noodles are immediately chilled after boiling. This is the best part about homemade food.
This is a new style of Okinawa soba that’s served cold and is only available during the summer. Among the three varieties of sauces, I recommend the sauce made with acerola; it has a great balance of tartness and sweetness.
Next is their Tan Tan Okinawa Soba with lots of vegetables. The authentic tantan soup is carefully prepared with ground sesame seeds. This dish, combined with Kanutan’s specialty soba noodles and plenty of homegrown leafy vegetables, is their most popular dish.
You can enjoy plenty of fresh and cooked vegetables!
Fresh local Okinawan fish sashimi and Umibudo Donburi. Umibudo green caviar with its great popping texture is freshly procured in Yanbaru, and the fresh fish are from Motobu Port.
They have a wide selection of dishes to choose from on their menu, so you’ll definitely find something that you’ll enjoy.
Besides delicious meals and a great location for a relaxing coffee time, Kanutan also has an accommodation facility, too. The wooden structure has an overall comfortable warmth to it, offering a great place to enjoy the view and stay the night after a day at the beach. They also have an outdoor Jacuzzi on their deck for the guests.
Guests staying overnight can enjoy a relaxing time with a beautiful view from the outdoor Jacuzzi.
The inn is available only to one group per day, so you have the whole place to yourself. If you’re thinking of visiting Okinawa, this is a great spot, especially if you’re travelling with children! You can enjoy a panoramic view of the ocean, delight in the wonderful dishes, and stay in a comfortable inn.
