Introducing a Soda Fountain Style [SODA BAR] in Okinawa! (Naha City)
Introduced in the States in the 80s, soda fountains have become so popular now they’re a familiar fixture in many establishments. Some of you may be wondering what soda fountains are, but you’ve probably seen them at the beverage counter in family restaurants and other places. They’re like those coffee machines you see at every convenience store in Japan, and are usually found on countertops. Just press the button for a beverage that you like, and the machine fills your cup. It’s a simple process and that’s one of the reasons why they spread so quickly.
In today’s article, I’ll be introducing [SODA BAR], a great new place that offers fantastic beverages with the convenience of original soda fountains and the style of countertop service that have been arranged to meet the modern style. In an age where people are more conscious about where the ingredients come from and they’re overall safety, the beverages offered at SODA BAR are served with care, one cup at a time. The drinks are made from fresh seasonal fruits and specialty products of Okinawa and are not served automatically, but are blended according the shop’s original mixing ratio.
The cups that the drinks are served in are simple in design, with a pastel color and appearance like it came straight out of a laboratory to add a cute and stylish touch. Enjoy the drinks with friends and take some photos to capture a great memory together.
Their Pineapple Soda (¥540) is the most popular choice on the menu. It’s served with bite-sized cuts of pineapple and topped with mint leaves, giving a pleasing appearance with their bright yellow and green colors. The sweetness of the pineapples and the refreshing soda will cool you down nicely on a warm day.
I also recommend their Kokuto (brown sugar) Milk Coffee (¥540), made with 100% genuine sugarcane from Nakijin Village. After a stroll on Kokusai Street, this is the perfect drink to recharge your body.
There’s one more thing that’s enchanting about this place, and that’s the graffiti art that you’ll find on the exterior wall. It was done by OG SLCIK, an artist who’s popular around the world. There are even some die-hard fans who come all the way to Okinawa just to see the art. You also have to check out the giant mascot character for the brand, XLARGE® on the wall, too.
Kokusai Street is bustling with locals and visitors and offers great shopping and much to see. Even in the winter, a stroll on a sunny day in Okinawa can get you pretty warm, so stop by the SODA BAR where you can pick yourself up a refreshing drink that’s kind to your body. Continue your stroll on Kokusai Street with a colorful drink in hand and enjoy your time in Okinawa even more. If you’re in the neighborhood for an evening stroll, they also offer cocktails like mojitos and pina coladas too.
