Located near Cape Hedo and Daisekirinzan at the northernmost tip of the main island is "Kayauchi Banta". This is a spectacular spot overlooking the East China Sea from a cliff with a height of 80m.
Banta is Okinawan for "cliff", and Kaya refers to thatching materials like palms, reeds, or straw. If you were to toss a bundle of Kaya from the cliffs here, it will be blown by the wind and fall apart, and that is how this spot got its name, "Kayauchi Banta". It is one of the Okinawa Kaigan Quasi-National Parks.
The view from the observatory is a dynamic view that is typical of Okinawa.
The lush Yanbaru forests along the coast, the unobstructed clear skies, and the azure sea. Standing here always makes me want to take a big deep breath. The generosity, kindness, and strength that seems to embrace everything. I cannot help feeling the deep natural energy of Okinawa.
When you enter the path next to this sign, another small observatory appears.
If you look down, you will find a fishing port and the sea full of coral.
The shallow waters here offer a view of the water that is particularly clear. The breathtaking beauty seems to rush in, stimulating the senses.
Just next to the two observatories is an Azumaya, or a pavilion, where you can take a break in the pleasant shade.
From this lovely spot, you can see as far as Izena Island and Iheya Island on a clear day. Usually, with only a handful of people, the Kayauchi Banta is a hidden gem where you can relax and take in the beauty of nature in the northern region of Okinawa Island.
