Gelato Shop On The Hill, Ishigaki Island
“Miru Miru Honpo” sits on the top of a hill called Minanoshukuoka.
The gelato shop is directly run by Imori Farm. Immediately after its opening in 2010, the shop became so popular.
One mixed with freshly-drawn raw milk, sherbet made from Ishigaki fruit, and ….totally about 40 kinds of recipe they have.
You can choose among 12 kinds of flavors in the show case, mainly seasonal flavors.
The above photo shows milk, mango, purple yam, guava from the left.
The most popular flavor is standard flavor, milk.
Other popular ones are salt & brown sugar, island banana, purple yam, mango, etc.
An unusual flavor for that day was fuuchiba (Okinawan felon herb).
I tried the sample to find that a distinctive aroma and bitterness of fuuchiba mixed with milk is rather refreshing, which makes you want to try again.
The president, Mr. Yonetoshi Imori, originally ran the farm to distribute raw milk and cow meat, but one day he got an idea; “Why don’t we make gelati so that our customers can savor our homemade milk?”
That’s how he opened this shop with his son and daughter.
In addition to gelati, they produce hamburger and taco rice using meat of cow raised on Imori Farm and milk coffee using freshly-drawn raw milk, and so on.
Everybody admires the stunning vista of Taketomi Island, Iriomote Island, Hatoma Island, etc. The idyllic landscape of Ishigaki Island stretching out wide before your eyes melts your heart.
“Miru Miru” located on the western side of Ishigaki Island is also a popular sunset viewing location. A midday bright blue world of sky and sea and a moment that the sunset glow makes everything around you beautiful, both of which are my recommendations.
Painushima Iahigaki Airport terminal building has “Miru Miru,” too.
Please try different flavors to find your favorite one.♪
