Panoramic View of North, South, East and West of Ishigaki Island! Scenic Spot “Tamatorizaki Observatory”

A short drive up from National Highway 390 in the northern part of the eastern coast of Ishigaki Island will take you to “Tamatorizaki Observatory” situated on a hill of about 50m high. This is one of the best spots in Ishigaki, as popular as “Kabira Bay.”
The observatory within an about 10 minute-walk distance from the parking lot offers breathtaking views to captivate you!
You have a grandstand view of the Hirakubo Peninsula that stretches out grandly to the north of the island, the Hanna Peak of 239.5m above sea level. Ibaruma Bay, and the Nobaru Point to the south.
On the east, the vast Pacific Ocean spreads right before you while behind the hills on the west, lo and behold you can view a bit of the East China Sea.
That’s right. This place is a very uncommon spot that commands views of waters of north, south, east and west all at once. Everywhere you look, below your eyes spreads amazingly emerald green water which makes an overwhelmingly great contrast with the deep indigo of the open sea.
And on top of that, you cannot miss brilliant-colored flowers of the southern land like hibiscus and coral hibiscus blooming all year around along the path to the observatory.
Turquoise blue waters and red flowers… this is so perfect to be a typical Okinawa landscape.
Using your smart phone or single-lens reflex camera, please enjoy taking pictures of the marvelous vista to your heart’s content!
