The second season of sakura had come to Okinawa.

Okinawa exudes an image of the ocean, but in this area is a town in whose atmosphere you can see a somewhat different Okinawa that is surrounded by mountains and nature.

The hikan-zakura tree I wrote about previously was already full of branches with vividly green leaves. And another sakura tree had begun to bloom in this town.

The “Kume-no-sakura” bloomed with branches full of whitish, faintly pale pink petals.

It seems that the sakura was brought back to Kumejima from China before World War II.

It will gradually change in appearance from the white petals of when it first starts to bloom to pale pink petals.

Another characteristic, different from the hikan-zakura, is that its petals fall away one by one.

For someone like me from Okinawa who doesn’t know the mainland, its appearance overlaps with the “somei-yoshino” tree I’ve never seen.
