Urasoe Kumiodori Festival

Kumi-odori is one of the traditional performance arts of Okinawa. If have a history of almost 300 years, and took samishin and Ryukyu folk songs and took influence from Japanese performance arts like kabuki, noh and kyogen to get performances. In 2010 UNESCO registered it as an intangible cultural property.
You can easily enjoy kumiodori at the “Urasoe Kumiodori Festival” which will be held every weekend from this month. On today the 8th there is the kumiodori version of “Momotaro” and on the 28th they will show prominent kumiodori show Shushikaneiri. And there are more events!
