Okinawa CLIP Movie Muro Kiln

I visited the workshop of a yachimun (Okinawan word meaning pottery) living in Nago City, Mr. Muro Taniguchi.
He became independent after training at the workshop of Yomitanzan-yaki pottery artist.

His home-cum-workshop is an old, concrete, one-storied house in Yanbaru (the forested northern part of the mainland Okinawa), where he buries himself in baking potteries every day.

There are a number of wares with characteristic, bold decoration.
Especially vivid indigo arabesque design was impressive.
