Snow Falling in Okinawa? Christmas Event That Brings Children Great Joy

In “Okinawa Kodomo no Kuni (The Okinawa Zoo & Museum)” in Okinawa City has a special event only in Christmas season, where you can enjoy falling snow and sleighing!

It is “Christmas Fantasy 2014,” which is held from Tuesday, December 23 to Sunday, December 28 this year.
Lights up starts around 5:30 PM, but the park is open from 4:00 PM, so you can enjoy the zoo, or eisa (Okinawa traditional folk dance) or street dance performances on the main stage before the illumination.

Children who participated for the Okinawa CLIP experience report entered the Santa House, saying “I want to have candies!”  There he found a real Santa Clause!
What the Santa  Clause took out of his present bag is candies!  He really makes your wish come true!!

Around 5:15 PM, when we were on our way to the main stage, snow started to fall suddenly!!
I had imagined powder snow falling silently, but the snow poured down dynamically in an Okinawan style.
No matter what kind of snow it is, children in Okinawa got really excited!

You can appreciate the sight of snow overlapping with illuminated lights on a winter night sky in Okinawa only here!

The most popular attraction among the local children is playing with snow.
The kids enjoyed sleighing on the slide made of snow, having a very fun time in the snow tunnel or the Kamakura igloo.

In addition, the Super Laser Show with music and the skyrocket firework were displayed.
A visitor said to me, “It is hard to see firework display in this time of the year!”
You can enjoy the firework display as many as three times a day.

You can savor numerous sparkling lights on a spacious premise.
We found illuminated lights with typical motifs of Okinawa such as Shuri Castle, eisa dancers and hibiscus, which is a popular photo-taking spot.

There is a tunnel called Black Hall, where marine life and the universe that are drawn in fluorescent paint shone in black light.  That was very fantastical!

I asked a family that joined this experience how they liked it.
“We love this illumination event because it pleases not only adults but also children to the top of their bent,” they said.

Why don’t you have a blast with your family or friends on a winter night in Okinawa?
