Sleeping with Giant Snake??? Lots of Reptiles-Related Event!
"Habu Museum Park” is located in the Okinawa World
This facility provides you knowledge about reptiles, including the famous snake in Okinawa called “habu”, and other Okinawan living creatures through ecological exhibits.
Now, only during the summer vacation, the museum park holds a lot of events where you can touch tjhe reptiles!!! As I am a big lover of reptiles, I would like to introduce and recommend events to you.
What? What’s going on here?
A gggg…giant snake is on the futon.
Yes! Now, you can “sleep with a giant snake!”
On a hot summer day, it is very comfortable to touch the cool skin of a snake!
First, children were too scared to even get close to the snake, but soon I found them sleeping with the snake happily.
Surprisingly, women want to try, and it is crowded with people watching women screaming with delight or …. (LOL)
You can experience this activity in “Sasuke’s Room,” a place for getting friendly with unique creatures.
My special recommendation in “Sasuke’s Room” is the "all you can catch" kinobori tokage (Ryukyu tree lizard)!! In the enclosure, so many kinobori tokage are on the trees, on the ceiling, on the walls,…they are all around you!
Kinobori tokage lives on flat lands and mountain forests, and can be seen around houses and street trees. They are very familiar lizards in Okinawa. I often see them when I visit ancestors’ tombstones.
You can catch them by grabbing the tail. They can be found on all sides of the enclosure, so children crowed like roosters! I enjoyed it much more than the children did. (LOL)
It is pitiful to keep the lizards too long, so please return them to where they belong.♪
This is an annual summer event called “Let’s Explore Pitch Black Forest of Snakes!” With only one flashlight, you go into the pitch black room where snakes are on the loose.
No one tells you what kind or how many snakes are inside! You might experience fear and thrill beyond a ghost house.
I saw several men entered the house and screaming out of fear a couple of times. (LOL)
In addition, Habu Museum Park has photo panels that explain about reptiles clearly, so that even children can understand easily. Of course they have a permanent exhibition of various materials on the habu snakes. You can learn the details of the ecological facts, species of the habu, and the number of people who got bitten, etc. !
In the facility, you can get a close look at habu snakes at the section for habu on the loose and the section of ecological exhibits, so you can learn about habu with your children. The museum has not only the exhibits of the habu, but also living exhibits of precious snakes that can be seen only on Okinawa islands!
Also the “Giant Snakes Big Three Exhibit” is being held. You can see the big three in the snake world: the longest snake species in the world, “amimenishikihebi (Reticulated python),” the first or the second longest snake in the world, “amimenishikihebi (Reticulated python)” and “birumanishikihebi (Burmese python), and the heaviest snake in the world, “ooanakonda (Green anaconda).
You can learn about the biology of the habu while looking at it face to face. Swimming races with a cute mongoose and a sea snake which has more powerful venom is also a must-see! (LOL)
Anyway the talk at the “Habu show” is so funny and the hall is full of laughter.
This is a very popular show; so many people come to the Habu Museum Park to see it! After the show, you can take a souvenir picture with a giant snake for free.♪
You can visit “Habu Museum Park” in the Okinawa World.
The staff members obviously love reptiles and they kindly share their knowledge on reptiles found on the park.♪
During the summer vacation, the park museum has many events where you can directly touch the reptiles. Please bring your children to have a lot of summer memories together!
