Hello Okinawa CLIP audience! We, “Shiny,” are an organization to support “what girls want to do!” We are engaged in publishing free newspaper, organizing events, and managing websites. We mainly send out information through free newspaper from a viewpoint of female students in Okinawa. This time, we had an offer of collaboration from Okinawa CLIP, and we are very happy to work on this project with them. We would like to give information on Okinawa to audience mainly students who are planning to visit Okinawa during spring vacation!

At first, we want to tell you our recommended spots and delicious sweets! Most girls can’t resist sweets♡ Aren’t we correct?

Seika

“Since I love sweets, I am thinking of going to many shops during spring break! My recommended shop is “café nicoli” near the University of Ryukyu and Okinawa International University. I started going to this scone shop after I enrolled college, and my favorite is ‘Chinscone (150 yen incl. tax).’ It is a reasonable price, meaty scone, and has crunchy texture. The shop updates its official twitter to send out information on sales and more, so I check it constantly.”

Next is Okinawan sweets.

Yurine

“I major in Ryukyuan and Asian culture at college, so I have knowledge about Okinawan culture and history! I want to tell about my recommended shop “Peechin-ya,” and good-old Okinawan manju (steamed bun) are available here (1 manju: 120 yen incl. tax / 1 set: 500 yen incl. tax), and its taste hasn’t changed since its foundation. The manju is very famous, and it is known as one of “the 3 famous manju in Naha! Sweet bean paste covered with roasted barley flour tastes nostalgic, and a light scent of shell ginger reminds of Okinawa. You can able to eat it as it is, but I like to cool and eat it.”

Finally, a café!

Chika

“My friends told me about lots of cafes, so I still have more cafes that I want to go to. This time, I want to recommend “okiraku café” at Okinawa International University! The café is always crowded with female college students during lunch time, and they  come here during snack time also♪ The staffs here are friendly and nice, so everybody can feel the warmth of Okinawan people. Non-students also can eat here, so why don’t you enjoy eating lunch here with students at the university? Probably you could be friends with them!? And, you can’t miss the cafe's official facebook to check the latest info!”

Was our information helpful to you? I hope you will visit our recommended shops when you visit Okinawa during spring break!
